December 18, 2009 Oklahoma State Representative Sally Kern constantly screams for less government, yet once again she is introducing legislation that pushes her moral crusade onto private lives and using the law to do it. This time around she's introduced House Bill 2279 for her first 2010 volley against perceived immorality. HB 2279 is an act detailing what is and is not grounds for divorce. Her main thrust is to diminish incompatibility as reasons for dissolving a union. Her proposed legislation would not allow for incompatibility to be used if there are minor children in the home, the couple have been married for ten or more years, or either party objects to the divorce.



The pastor's wife, who seems to spend more time with Rep. Mike Reynolds than her own husband these days, has made sure to protect impotency as a legitimate reason for divorce. It's number three on her list. She must not believe in the "in sickness and in health" part of her marriage vows. She's, also, using the proposed bill to ensure the marital rights of the insane. Criteria include: you have to be insane for a minimum of five years and three doctors have to declare you insane - one of which has to be the superintendent of a hospital or sanitarium for the insane. That seems a bit self-serving - wanting to dump your husband for a limp dick before he can dump you for being insane.

But the nuttiness doesn't end with Sally. State Senator Russell, who has already revealed his intentions to introduce legislation calling on Oklahoma to ignore the federal hate crimes bill, has introduced Senate Bill 1257 that seeks to make it legal to use silencers on your guns for the purposes of killing or capturing animals. Sounds to us like it's more of a slippery way for him and his fellow nuts to legally carry around silenced weapons. Silencers aren't generally used to hunt rabbits and deer, unless your huntin' dog is prone to pissing itself around loud noises...they're more likely used to quietly kill people. That would come in handy when you're committing a hate crime.
